“You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully.”…Anthony Robbins
Have you ever just taken a moment to look back at all the things you have been through in your life so far? I catch myself doing that allot. I remember things all the way back to when I was a little kid. All the events, good and bad, that have gotten me to this point where I am today.
I think it is human nature to look back at all the really bad things that have happened to you first, for some reason it’s easier to remember those then the good things. I think it is important to remember both, but I am tired of always just remembering the bad so today I am going to look back on the good things that have happened and are happening in my life lately!
1. This was really just a blessing and gift to the whole world…..I was born! Ha-ha but seriously I think people take for granted the fact that we are born, we get to exist and live life and experience things, whether good or bad. I have learned that with the bitter comes the sweet, (which is why I choose those two words as my latest tattoos on my ribs) there can be no joy without a little suffering just like there can be no light without darkness.
2. My first softball glove (age 8 I think?). I don’t remember this moment exactly, but I know the minute I put it on I started a long journey that would lead to me making some of the best friends, memories, and plays ;) of my life. Every game since then has become a part of me in one way or another. Maybe the most important thing, it allowed me to have my college education paid for.
3. The fact that I have lived in the same town my whole life (sometimes this is not so great but in this case it is). I was talking with my mom the other day after getting off the phone with my friend Kyle and she said “I can’t believe you guys still talk, I remember you two when you were just little kids.” I have known Kyle since kindergarten, in-fact a lot of my friends I have known since that age. I just thought that was pretty cool. Not many people can say they are still friends with kids they new back in elementary school.
4. My close friends and their families. I have some amazing friends in my life and one thing I have noticed is they all have amazing families. I absolutely love my friend’s families and everything they have ever done for me. (Especially Michael Lee Farris for driving me home when I was afraid to ride home with my parents after a bad game lol)
5. My first pet. My dog Tanner. He is the sweetest little guy you will ever meet and my pride and joy! For all those who don’t have a pet, you are missing out and I feel sorry for you.
6. My first serious boyfriend. Although things are bad now it was comforting to find a person out in the world that accepted me for me and could love me and be that close. Through that experience I have learned some of the most important lessons I think a person can learn in life. I learned about strength, humility, forgiveness, trust, love, heartbreak, friendship, family, and self growth.
7. Graduating college! This is probably my greatest accomplishment to date. I graduated college on the same day as my 23rd birthday! December 18th 2009. This day was absolutely perfect celebrating with my wonderful family and friends.
8. Getting my first big girl Job. I do Marketing for a company called Blue Spring. It’s not my dream job but it’s allowed me to live a pretty good life so far right out of college and I am learning a lot.
9. Traveling alone to visit friends! I traveled to California twice this summer to visit one of my best friend’s Stephanie and I paid for the trips myself! Well and a very generous donation from a good friend! I had the most amazing experiences and took home some great memories. I think everyone should travel alone at-least once in their life. It made me feel so grown up and on my own.
10. Buying my new car! My first big girl purchase, and even though I will be making payments for a while it is worth it because it was another step in the direction of becoming self sufficient.
11. Decorating my apartment! This is when I really felt grown up! When I finally got my apartment looking like a home. This photo was my inspiration.
This is not exactly what it looks like but it is the same theme!
And always last but not least my amazing family I was blessed with to be there for me through all these amazing adventures! I would not be where I am or who I am without them!
So what experiences are you grateful for?

TRISTAN!- You can never understand the true depth of gratefulness I have for having a son. But when you are told you will NEVER be able to have children and then you actually have one and they are healthy it is the most AMAZING feeling ever. Miracles do happen:), but that by far is the one thing I am the most grateful for! :)
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for nights before OCU games. Will the score be 11 or 13 or 21 to 0?
